    This role can be based in Brno, Czech Republic or Bourne End, UK.

     

    The person will be responsible for supporting the EMEA Senior Tax Manager in ensuring indirect tax compliance for EMEA is in accordance with current UK/EU tax legislation, advising the business units and cross-functional stakeholders on day to day VAT matters and supporting the Business Transformation Office (BTO) project initiatives including advising Zebra functional project leads on EMEA VAT compliance risks and implications resulting from supply chain and ERP systems integration.

    Responsibilities

    • Review the EMEA VAT, Intrastat and statistical returns and ensure compliance with current UK/EU tax directives and legislation.
    • Identify and manage to closure key indirect tax risks and exposures working alongside Business Units and Legal (for example, where contracts are being negotiated or supporting marketing in setting up events around EMEA).
    • Co-ordination of specific indirect tax audits, provide support in responding to queries and resolving tax disputes within the local region.
    • Manage VAT budgets and corresponding relationships with external VAT advisors across Europe.
    • Ensure SAO compliance and corresponding documentation is kept up to date and the tax arrangements are appropriate for complete and accurate filing of VAT returns and other associated reporting.
    • Ensure SOX compliance and corresponding documentation is kept up to date and the internal controls are operating effectively.
    • Ensuring data retention requirements relating to indirect taxes are met so that prior period tax audits can managed effectively with minimum recourse to external advisors. * To continually review processes, seek to communicate and implement changes to improve efficiency. *Provide advice on specific EMEA VAT registrations for legal entities with complex trading arrangements requiring VAT registrations in an overseas jurisdictions.
    • Manage and co-ordinate HMRC correspondence, EMEA AT and Customs Audits.
    • Spearhead the Indirect Tax workstream of the BTO project particularly in relation to the supply chain and Oracle ERP systems integration. This will involve working closely with Big 4 advisor and communicating to the project leads the optimum VAT solution for the Company to minimize VAT risk and compliance exposure.
    • The BTO project will require a “hands on” approach and the EMEA VAT manager will be expected to provide input into setting up, configuring and testing of output reports with IT support on the functionality of the Oracle ERP system.
    • Assist the EMEA Tax Senior Manager on Direct Tax projects and Quarter Close and Year End Close deliverables.
    • Manage and develop good relationships with VAT authorities, local VAT advisors and finance and account managers.
    • Implement best VAT practices and procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Degree or equivalent
    • Professional Qualification (IIT/CTA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
    • Proven Post Qualified experience or first move out Big 4 to Industry
    • Demonstrate experience in managing multi-jurisdiction within an ERP Shared Service Environment.
    • English Language skills
    • Must have excellent communication skills and experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and being proactive.
    • High level of competence using Excel
    • Numeracy, accuracy, attention to detail
    • Capable of delivering change projects within a framework determined & agreed by stakeholders.

    Attributes and Experience - Preferred:

    • Experience within a Multi-national Shared Service Centre environment preferred
    • Direct experience of Indirect Tax within Oracle Environment
    • Experience in a manufacturing & distribution business
    • Big 4 finance / tax background
    • Ability to work with dispersed teams and multicultural teams
    • European language skill
    • A general understanding of the wider principles of Statutory Reporting, Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing and Direct Taxes, with specific knowledge of Indirect Taxes would be considered a plus
