  • Overview

    The Senior System Engineer will be responsible for designing and delivering EAI solutions and Signature Services to the customer for the professional services organization. This person has primary responsibility for the technical delivery of a customer solution. The Senior System Engineer will work with the Sales staff, Technical Specialists, partners, and sub-contractors to successfully scope and deliver customer solutions.

    The System Engineer’s responsibilities will meet with Zebra’s Services Portfolio Strategy incl. Software Integration Services, RFID, Real Time Locationing Services, Architecture & Design Services, Data Analytics & Services, Networking Solutions (e.g. WLAN, LAN, WAN, Security, Network Management, etc.), Voice Solutions, Mobile Computing Solutions.

    The applicant must have started as a Software Solutions developer and done significant hands-on application/BI/Data development work and understand software methodologies. It is key that the applicant maintains in-depth knowledge of the Zebra’s technologies and architectures and strategic business plans.


    • Lead by example Zebra’s Vision, Mission and Values
    • Act as the SME for technical changes on a delivered EAI Solution to provide rough order of magnitude quotes to customers and scoping of customer selected change requests.
    • Scope, review, and create functional and non-functional requirements for forms, interfaces, conversions, and enhancements taking into account migration from existing software solution or upgrades.
    • Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
    • Develop logical, conceptual and physical architectural models for the targeted solution and communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies to project teams.
    • Deliver Assess, Design and Deployment Services for large and/or complex Mobile Computing and SW Integration Solutions. Deliver complex business system solutions using Zebra’s products stand alone or integrated with third party product offerings.
    • Deliver Troubleshooting, Support and Training Services to direct customers as well as channel partners
    • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
    • Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
    • Create project documentation (e.g. presentations, Project Designs, Project Scope Definitions, etc.)
    • Engage with support services to ensure a smooth transition into the run phase of a delivery
    • Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.


    • Strong English language skills in oral and in writing.
    • Strong German and/or French language skills in oral and in writing.
    • Experience with a proven track record of Software Development /BI / data development skills. Understanding of the retail market. Must have in depth knowledge of:
      • Mobile Computing and Mobile Computer Operating Systems with focus on Android based devices
      • Programming languages and SW environments for mobile computer such as C#, C++, Compact Framework, etc.
      • Windows and Unix Operating and Database systems.
    • Proven experience as a Subject Matter Expert in the delivery of software applications and solutions.
    • Knowledge of: Software Design, Software Documentation, Software Testing, Problem Solving, Software Development Process, Design cross platform system solutions.
    • Strong customer facing skills.
    • Demonstrates ability to share and communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear concise language that is the parlance of each group. Demonstrated ability to manage end user issues
    • Ability to support problem management activities
    • International experience a plus
    • Willingness to travel 60%
